Matching spay+neuter fund that helps shelter dogs get adopted

There are too many adoptable dogs in overcrowded shelters

Shelters face a heartbreaking reality every day: limited space means tough decisions, and sometimes, that includes euthanasia of dogs who have done nothing wrong. No shelter employee wants to make that call, but it happens far too often. It’s a devastating situation, especially when spaying and neutering can make all the difference – yet many shelters lack the resources to do so.

We can help by funding spay and neuter appointments

A dog is sitting in a shelter, waiting to get chosen to be someone’s pet. After the dog is selected for adoption, the wait begins for the required spay appointment. Meanwhile, the shelter has to build cost of daily care, plus the cost of the spay, into adoption fees, and the spot this dog occupies while waiting prevents another dog from being able to be rescued.

Fixin’ to Go Home lets the shelters get the dogs spayed or neutered as soon as possible, so that they’re ready to go home immediately when their new person shows up, and the cost of adoption is more affordable since that care is paid for. It’s a simple step that saves lives, gets dogs into loving homes faster, and frees up space for other animals in need.

Furbish Thrift will match your donation dollar for dollar. Will you sponsor a dog?

The cost for each dog is $150. You can sponsor a dog, or give any amount you can. Together we can make a big difference and save the lives of shelter dogs.

Over 400 shelter dogs have found forever homes so far!

We have been fixing dogs at a number of area shelters and they have all been quickly adopted. It has happened many times that a dog who has been in the shelter for weeks or even months will be adopted in a few days after being fixed. This program works!

Let’s fix 40 dogs for the Holiday Adoption Event!

On Dec 13th we are sponsoring pets for a big adoption event. There will be adoptable dogs from multiple shelters at the Henrico County Animal Shelter.  Our goal is to fix 40 dogs for adoption. Will you help?
